Submission streams
ADM 2026 invites contributions in three different submission streams connected to previous conferences and progress in the field at large. The sessions will be hosted by subject experts. Please note: Before submitting your contribution, please consult the academic and practitioner submission guidelines. If you have submitted a contribution, conveners will inform you if your paper is accepted or rejected by March 25, 2026.

1 Main submission stream
The main conference stream invites a broad spectrum of insightful practitioner presentations and late-stage academic project contributions addressing both new and existing topics that relate to the sustainable development of destinations as well as their marketing and management. Contributions received and accepted for presentation will be clustered into topical, sequential sessions and paired with topic-expert session chairs.
The past consensus state-of-the-field papers linked in the author guideline sections provide an overview of the past conference discussions as reference point and inspiration. Alongside recurrent topics of interest such as managing and marketing destinations, sustainable development and destination resilience, methodological advances, technological transformation and impact, entrepreneurship and innovation, we especially encourage submissions that rethink and deal with:
effective governance for pluralistic destinations,
the climate crisis and its implications for destination development,
visitor motivations and behavior in relation to ethics or justice,
intentional place-making and digital spaces,
destination policy for equity and restorative practices,
practical and inclusive approaches to modular destination development, and
DMO futures and destination stewardship.
2 Pitch submission stream
The pitch stream welcomes early-stage contributions (“diamonds in the rough”) related to the conference topic from practitioners and academics at any career stage related to the conference focus as well as topics listed under the main submission stream, looking for input, feedback or validation for project ideas, conceptual frameworks, and research designs.
3 Special submission stream
The special interest stream invites submissions with a particular focus on advancing (visitor) flow-based destination management and marketing. Following up on (roughly) ten years of flow-based destination theorizing and empirical research, this stream intends to bring together scholars and practitioners with manifold perspectives interested in sharing their reflections and advances on tourist destinations that transcend the “classic take” grounded in territorial boundaries.
